Note the colors of your objects. During the following steps the parent object will change to the child object color.
- Open Layer panel to see the list of paths.
- Set tool to Edit Paths by Nodes
- Select the main path
- Select the path to be cut out of the main path
- Command Path ->Exclusion
- The main path will change colors to the other path. reset to black
- Switch tool to Select and Transform objects
- Select from the Layer panel the cut path and delete
- Continue until complete
